VI Cargo - Who we are and what we do
Our business is simple. We act as your freight forwarding agent and use cost effective ocean bound freighters to ship your goods in secure containers. Our freighter leaves Miami (Medley, a suburb of Miami) each week and arrives in St. Croix the following week. The cost is calculated at $2.45 per cubic foot (with the exception of extremely heavy items such as floor tiles that have a weight surcharge). There is a security and fuel surcharge that changes with market conditions and is currently 91 cents per cubic foot and subject to change without notice. This charge has increased due to world oil prices. Nevertheless, we are confident you will find us to be very cost effective compared to other shipping methods.
VI Cargo prepares all shipping documents and presents the documents to US Customs and the VI Excise offices for you. We do the legwork and all you need do is pick up your items from our Castle Coakley (the neighborhood between Sunny Island and the Hovensa refinery) warehouse or have a delivery service pick them up for you. If you call our St. Croix office, we can recommend a delivery service appropriate for your shipment if you don't want to pick up your goods yourself.
If you've ever been aggravated by a seller who refuses to ship outside the 48 states, relax and just have your goods shipped to our Florida location. Make sure it is shipped to your name, not ours, and that we get an invoice faxed or emailed (see the Contact tab on this page) and that we have your phone number in our St Croix office. After the first shipment, you will be in our contact list and will only need to get us an invoice.
